Prostate Cancer: Intermediate-Risk Disease
Radiation options and hormone-therapy considerations.
← Back to diagnosis resourcesOverview
Intermediate-risk prostate cancer includes a range of disease. Favorable and unfavorable features can affect whether radiation is given alone or with a period of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT).
Radiation options may include conventionally fractionated treatment, moderately hypofractionated treatment, SBRT for appropriately selected patients, or brachytherapy in suitable settings. The expected benefit of ADT should be weighed against its side effects and individualized to the patient’s risk features and health.
